About us
Patruli Literario is a digital literary platform founded by the Patruli Foundation. The board consists of Jeroen Heuvel (Chairman), Nifa Ansano (Treasurer), and Vesuhely Americaan (Secretary).
Patruli Literario provides a space for new literary creations in Papiamentu, English, Spanish, and Dutch. The platform focuses on poets and authors with roots in, or connections to, the CAS BES islands.
Vision
This platform aims to create a digital stage that expands the literary landscape in the broadest sense of the word, from short poems, stories, one-act plays, and spoken word performances to full poetry collections, novels, theatre and film scripts, as well as reviews and essays on literature. The focus is on work by and from CASBES and its diaspora, with special attention to primary and secondary literature in Papiamentu, Dutch, Spanish, and English.
Mission
There is currently no digital platform that brings together the full scope of young prose and poetry writers, as well as visual artists from the CASBES islands and the diaspora in the Netherlands, where many artists and authors born in the former Netherlands Antilles live and work.
Most of these authors and artists self-publish on a small scale, sometimes only performing for select audiences. They are eager to reach more potential readers, viewers, or listeners.
With Patruli, these creators step outside their immediate circles, beyond their own country/ island, and possibly even beyond the Kingdom, gaining, in short, greater visibility and attention.
